Accreditation

Alpha laboratories holds a 4-year accreditation certificate by the Institute of Quality Management in Healthcare (IQMH).

Institute of Quality Management in Healthcare (IQMH) Accreditation Program is a process by which an authoritative body ensures that laboratories meet explicit quality management criteria, in order to give formal recognition that the laboratory is competent to carry out examinations. This is a mandatory program for all licensed medical laboratories in Ontario. The IQMH requirements are based on the following International Organization for Standardizations (ISO) standards:

ISO 15189:20013(E) Medical Laboratories-Particular requirements for quality and competence

ISO 15190:2003(E) Medical Laboratories-Requirements for safety

ISO 22870:2006(E) Point of Care Testing (POCT) Requirements for quality and competence (where relevant)

CSA Standard Z902-10 Blood and Blood Components, February 2010 (where relevant)
